Story of Heather Makowicz

I warmly invite you to learn a little bit about me…

​

I am a Certified Spiritual Director and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a heart for accompanying individuals as they seek to grow in their relationship with God while navigating the realities of everyday life.

​

For over 20 years, Spiritual Direction has been a deeply transformative part of my own journey.   Since 2016, I have been honored to offer Spiritual Direction and facilitate retreats on subjects such as the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises, Reclaiming Sacred Rest, Compassion Fatigue and Burnout, Catholic Wellness, and Encountering God in Nature Through the Wisdom of the Saints.

My clinical background includes training and certifications in trauma-informed care, EMDR,  Compassion Fatigue, and Integrated Health.   

I am blessed to be a Certfied Spiritual Director with formation through both Neumann University and the Lanteri Center for Ignatian Spirituality.​  I am also a published author and the Founding Director of Peak Encounter Ministries.  In this ministry, I designed and led outdoor contemplative retreats which integrated Scripture, prayer, nature, and authentic community.

Because of both my professional experience and personal life journey, which includes raising a son with multiple special needs, I bring a compassionate, grounded, and holistic approach to accompaniment.  I understand the complexities of balancing faith in the context of family, vocation, suffering, healing, and discernment.

In Spiritual Direction, I offer a prayerful and attentive space where directees have the opportunity to: 

​

• Deepen their relationship with God,

• Grow in discernment and listening prayer,

• Navigate seasons of transition, burnout, grief, and spiritual dryness,

• Integrate emotional, relational, and spiritual healing,

• Explore Ignatian spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises,

• Find rest, renewal, and greater awareness in God's presence in everyday life.

When I am not meeting with directees or leading retreats, I love to hike, paddle board, and spend time outdoors with my family and friends.​  I look forward to walking alongside you wherever you are in your journey!
